A motion was passed by Council to have staff develop and propose options on a low income tax rebate for seniors recognizing the pressures low income seniors are under in trying to meet basic living needs. This was to be proposed by the March 12th Regular Council Meeting.
March 12, 2024
The Director of Corporate Services prepared a report to Council identifying relief options municipalities can provide, the potential cost, and the option that best serves our community in regards to property tax relief. Council approved to provide a tax credit relief in the amount of $250 per eligible applicant and staff were instructed to prepare the necessary by-laws and documentation as required to implement the program.
