[COCHRANE, ON], [NOVEMBER 28, 2023] – The Corporation of the Town of Cochrane is thrilled to announce a groundbreaking partnership with Food Cycle Science to introduce an on-site food waste diversion program aimed at reducing the volume of organic matter destined for the Fournier Landfill site.

In a proactive move towards sustainable waste management, the Town of Cochrane is set to provide 100 FoodCycler machines to residents at a significantly subsidized price, encouraging households to actively participate in a transformative 12-week pilot program. The initiative seeks to empower residents to divert food waste effectively, contributing to a healthier environment and a reduced ecological footprint.

During the pilot program, each participating resident will monitor and track the amount of food waste diverted, playing a crucial role in assessing the overall impact of the program on local landfill reduction. The program has garnered widespread support from the town council and administration, drawing inspiration from the success of similar initiatives spearheaded by Food Cycle Science throughout Canada.

To facilitate community involvement, the Corporation of the Town of Cochrane has negotiated substantial discounts with Food Cycle Science, resulting in a subsidized cost for residents. Participants can choose from two FoodCycler models, each priced at a nominal fee of $150 or $300, compared to their retail value of $500 or more (certain conditions apply).

The registration for the FoodCycler Pilot Program is set to launch on 28 Nov 2023, remaining open until 20 Dec 2023. Residents of the Town of Cochrane eager to embrace this eco-friendly initiative can secure their participation by visiting https://bit.ly/FCSCochrane.

By investing in this innovative program, the Town of Cochrane is taking a bold step towards a greener future, reinforcing its commitment to environmental sustainability and waste reduction.
